This week marks 24 years since the publication of Shackleton's Way and it's gratifying to see it ranked #3 in Best Selling Antarctica Travel Guides along with Alfred Lansing's masterpiece, Endurance, and Roland Huntford's magnificent telling of the race to the South Pole - The Last Place on Earth.
The last few weeks have been a time to reflect - where we've been, where we are, where we're going. It's been 40 years since I picked up a copy of Frank Worsley's wonderful telling of Shackleton's Boat Journey at the Boston Public Library. I wanted to know how on earth Shackleton had managed to pull off that miracle and that's what I set out to find out. I had no idea in May 1984 where Shackleton's story would take me but I knew I wanted to share it with as many people as possible.
One really fun place it took me was to Scott Polar Research Institute for a really fun conversation with Roland Huntford. I wish I had a recording of that.
Lots to talk about ahead - Shackleton, leadership, Reagan, career management, remarkable people and organizations and the American Revolution. I hope you'll join me!
