Endurance sails from Plymouth

For Shackleton fans, here's a factoid from Orde-Lees' journal.

Before sailing for Antarctica, Endurance was moored off Plymouth.

Sir Ernest who was remaining behind for a week or two before joining Endurance in Buenos Aires, stayed that night at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel.

100+ years later, the hotel is still in business.
